10th September 2006  Trawden Celtic 4 - 2 Ighten Leigh
Rob Lawless hit a hat-trick as Celtic overcame Ighten Leigh - but the visitors, who are a year younger, put up a great fight in the second half.

Rob got his first after just eight minutes when he was put through and gave the keeper no chance from 12 yards. It was all Celtic, and ten minutes later Rob made it 2-0 with a similar effort.
Trawden dominated the rest of the half without adding to the score, with Celtic keeper Ben Gorman having a quiet time with not one shot from the visitors.

Half-time: Celtic 2 - 0 Ighten Leigh

Celtic started the second half as they had finished the first - on the attack, and it was no surprise when they increased their lead after 55 minutes. A mix-up in the Ighten Leigh box saw Rob Lawless complete his hat-trick emphatically.
Ten minutes later it was 4-0. Richard Dixon’s shot from the corner of the area got a wicked deflection and gave the Ighten Leigh keeper no chance.
Celtic then saw the visiting keeper pull off a couple of great saves to deny them an even bigger lead, first from James Redford and then from man-of-the-match Callum Whitfield.

Trawden then became complacent and Ighten Leigh pulled one back with a great strike from the edge of the box which sailed over Ben Gorman.
Ten minutes before time it was 4-2. Nobody picked up the Ighten Leigh striker who walked the ball into an empty net with the Celtic defence nowhere to be seen.
With Trawden making four substitutions, Ighten Leigh took advantage but could not break through again, although they were denied by a good save by Ben Gorman.

A scrappy match which Trawden deserved to win, but they made hard work of it in the end against an Ighten Leigh side with nothing to lose - apart from their composure now and again.

MAN-OF-THE-MATCH: Callum Whitfield
